Here's what people are saying about Behind Bars Race Cars
|
Chris Hemmeter from Behind Bars Race Cars is one of the most knowledgeable Chassis experts in the country. His knowledge of the Ford Mustang factory 4-link suspension has helped me get my car to an incredible 1.280 60ft. You may say, “What is so incredible about that?” Well that was done on a 1986 Ford Mustang with Mickey Thompson 26 X 10 slicks, stock cammed, non-clutchless, Tremec equipped, 3200 lb, NMRA Real Street car. This is the only NMRA Real Street car to ever run in the 1.2X 60fts during competition in the history of the NMRA.
Thanks Chris. During the 2002 season I was having problems with burning #5 piston in my Real Street car. I was getting very frustrated because I could not find my problem. Chris came over to my pit and looked at the fuel rails that were on my car. He said, “I bet if you put my fuel rails on your car it will help your problem burning #5 cylinder”. I bought a set and my problem was solved.
Thanks Chris.

I first conducted business with Behind Bars Race Cars' and owner Chris Hemmeter in 2002 on a set of his custom fuel rails. That purchase opened the door to additional purchases and a long standing friendship. I mentioned the desire to build a new car for the 2003 NMRA R/s class and after listening to Chris' suggestions, scheduled an appointment for him to pull out all the stops and install everything he had suggested with the chassis, cage, suspension and braking system.
I couldn't have been happier with the quality of his work nor the time it took for completion. My BBRC prepped coupe performed like it was posessed throwing down a best of 1.35 second 60ft times. Pretty impressive given the class rules mandate the use of a diaphragm clutch, factory style manual transmission and only 26" x 10" tires!
The desire to go faster and be less constrained by strict rules sealed the decision to progress to Drag Radial in 2004. A quick look over the car with Chris and newly announced 25.5 chassis requirements in hand revealed that only a few small additions were required to meet the spec. Chris custom built a intercooler with integral ice tank and all tubing, headers, wheelie bars, parachute mount and a host of other incidentals.
Chris attended the local track and helped get the car sorted out before attending a national event. With very little adjustment, the addition of a couple hundred horsepower and a radial tire the car matched its previous best 1.35 second 60ft but that was with the back tires! It is awesome to know the car will work the starting line for all its worth and go straight weather the front wheels are a foot off the ground or the back bumper is on the ground to 330ft.
The quality of Chris' work is second to none and I highly recommend his services. I won't go anywhere else!

I purchased my Grand National years ago from BBRC, it was in the days when nitrous was King and turboed muscle cars were a rare entity on the track and streets. When BBRC built this car it was done with the utmost quality and cutting edge technology for it's time, as a multitude of multifarious turboed cars evolved, technology advanced and BBRC stayed ahead of the game to give his customers the competitive edge at the track. Through the years as I keep my GN up to date, I don't hit Ebay looking for the cheapest parts, instead, I go straight to BBRC for the best quality parts and service, but most of all for the "priceless" professional advice I get with each and every purchase which actually saves me money in the long run.
